The wine region of Balatonfüred-Csopak is one of the most ancient wine regions of Hungary. The sunlight reflected by the surface of the lake Balaton improves the quality of the grapes by creating a mediterranean microclimate around the lake. Traditionally there are two basic wine styles in the region. The wines of Balatonfüred are full bodied, hot, with higher extract content and alcohol level; while the ones of Csopak are elegant, delicate, with fine scent and flavours.

The region is known primarily for its white grapes, but some winemakers produce tasteful red wines as well. The most traditional grape of the region, produced in the highest quantity, is the green and white coloured Italian Riesling, with the scent of reseda. The smaller and bigger wineries of the region expect visitors for wine-tasting, even combined with a meal while they can enjoy the amazing panorama of Balaton.
